JCCC softball improves to 14-0 in conference play with sweep over Highland

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 19-ranked Johnson County softball team swept Highland over the weekend, improving to 14-0 in the conference. The Lady Cavaliers are tied for first place in the conference with Cowley, who they host on Thursday, April 27. 

In Saturday's matchup at Highland, Johnson County won both games by the score of 11-3.  In the opener, right-handed pitcher Jordan Harrison was the star of the game, both in the circle and at the plate. She logged another complete-game victory while strikeout out 13 batters over six innings. At the plate, Harrison was 3-for-4 with a single, double, home run and three RBI.

Center fielder Eve Morris also had three hits including a homer and three RBI. Second baseman Emma Smith and third baseman Hannah Archdekin each drove in two runs and DP Gaige Pinkerton was 3-for-3 with an RBI.

In the second game, Archdekin blasted a three-run home run, left fielder Lauren Roberts ripped three doubles to drive in three runs, and first baseman Kate Ediger was 5-for-5 with two RBI.  Pinkeerton also collected three more hits and drove in a run and shortstop Toree Hoobler had two hits and two runs driven in. 

In the circle, right-hander Maggie McNally scattered five hits and no runs with nine strikeouts over her five innings pitched.
