
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – A week after being selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II South Region first team, Johnson County Communit College freshman third baseman Aspen Burgardt and sophomore first baseman Kate Ediger have been named to the NFCA All-America first team.
Addtionally, both players were seleced as first team All-Kansas Jayhawk Conference D-II performers. Burgardt was also named the conference MVP and Freshman of the Year.
This season, Burgardt led the conference with a .503 batting average, collecting 86 hits in 171 at bats. Her 86 hits also led the conference along with 33 doubles, 58 extra base hits and 84 RBI. She also belted 26 home runs, which ranked second in the conference. Her 33 doubles and 58 extra base hits also led the NJCAA, and her 84 RBI ranked fifth.
Burgardt set JCCC season records for doubles, home runs, extra base hits and multiple RBI games (25), and 84 RBI are second most recorded in a season. She also ranks tied for 10th in batting average and hits, and tied for 13th with 25 multiple-hit games.
Ediger closed out her sophomore season battting .417 (78-for-187) with 23 doubles, 18 home runs, 41 extra base hits, 54 runs and 51 RBI. She also led the team with 26 multiple-hit games and was thid with 15 multiple-RBI games. She finished secod in the conference in doubles, fifth in home runs and third in extra base hits. Nationally she tied for 11th in doubles, tied for 24th in homers and tied for 12th in extra base hits.
On JCCC's season charts, she is tied for sixth doubles, second in home runs, tied for 10th in muliti-hit games, tied for 21st in RBI and tied for fifth in multi-RBI games.
For her career, she ranks 14th in batting aveage (.448), 22nd in hits (134), tied for fourth in doubles (36), tied for fourth in home runs (22), second in extra base hits (60), eighth in RBI (100), ninth in multi-hit games (41) and a new career record in multi-RBI games (38).
