OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Just one week ago, the Johnson County Community College women's soccer teams was undefeated and ranked 18th in the NJCAA. After yesterday's 3-2 loss to 19th-ranked Kansas City Kansas Community College, the Lady Cavaliers have now lost three straight conference matches, all to ranked teams.

Johnson County jumped out the early 1-0 lead in the 24th minute on freshman Kayla Ambrose's fifth goal of the season. Freshman Gail Logan provided the assist.  But that lead was short-lived as the Lady Devils tied the score in the 38th minute, and 1-minute, 28-seconds later took the lead for good. Both goals were scored on rebounds after JCCC goalkeeper Oliva Ways was not able to secure the ball in front of the net.

Early in the second half, KCK forward Melisa Seigel fired a shot to the upper right corner off a restart to give the visitors a 3-1 lead.

Ambrose helped JCCC pull within one in the 64th minute with her team-leading sixth score of the year, off a feed from sophomore Kayla Flores, but Devils managed to keep the Lady Cavaliers in check the remainder of the match.

Freshman Isabelle Jospeh played the final 45 minutes in the net for Johnson County. She allowed the restart goal and saved four other shots.

Johnson County will attempt to snap their three-game skid when they host Coffeyville Community College Saturday, Sept. 21 at 2 p.m. The Ravens are also coming into the match on the heels of loss, falling to Cowley 4-1 on Wednesday. Coffeyville is 6-3-0 on the season and 2-2-0 in conference play.
