
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County women's soccer improved to 3-2-0 on the season after posting a pair of wins over two programs in Dallas over the weekend. JCCC handed Richland a 4-3 overtime loss on Friday night and dominated Mountain View 6-1 on Sunday afternoon.
In the win at Richland, the Thunderducks struck early when Daphanie Gonzalez found the back of the net just two minutes into the match. That goal ties the ninth fastest scored on the Cavaliers in program history.
Johnson County quickly evened the score at 1-1 when sophomore forward Samantha Grynkiewcz fed sophomore defender Sheryah Gavel for her first goal of the season in the fifth minute.
The Cavaliers went up 2-0 in the 22nd minute on freshman midfielder Alandra Bailey's first goal. Sophomore midfielder Darrian Gordon provided the assist.
JCCC kept that 2-1 lead until the 65th minute, but seven minutes later the Cavalier regained the lead when Grynkiewcz notched her second assist on sophomore midfielder Jillian Rogers' goal.
Richland tied the game at 3-3 in the 80th minute and eventually sent the game into overtime. Five minutes into the extra period Gordon fired the game winner past Thunderduck keeper Ilce Miranda. Rogers was credited with the assist, her first of the season.

Against Mountain View, it was all Johnson County. The Cavaliers outshot Mountain View 26 to 3 and 20 to-3 on goal. Gordon powered the offense with two goals, netting the first and sixth scores in the match. Grynkiewcz, freshman midfielder Charlotte Wolters, Jones and Gavel also scored goals. Freshman Forward Megan Everhart provided the assist on JCCC's first two goals and sophomore forward Brock Allen assisted the third and sixth scores. Sophomore forward Monique Fair and freshman Willoughby Lam were credited with the other two assists.
