No . 18 women’s soccer posts third straight shutout, blanks Indian Hills and Hawkeye over the weekend.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – After opening the season with a 3-1 loss at No. 1 ranked Phoenix College, the No. 18 ranked Johnson County women's soccer team has reeled off three straight shutouts, two coming over weekend homestand.

The Cavaliers netted two second half goals for a 2-nil victory over Indian Hills Friday night and capped the weekend with a 3-0 victory over Hawkeye on Sunday afternoon to up their season mark to 3-1-0. The last time JCCC recorded three straight shutouts was during the 2016 campaign.

In the victory over Indian Hills, freshman midfielder Lotta Meindl (Friedrichsdorf, Germany) scored her first collegiate goal in the 45th minute off an assist from sophomore forward Megan Everhart (McPherson, Kan.), her first of the season.

In the 69th minute Everhart added an insurance goal, her second on the year, off an assist from sophomore midfielder Alandra Bailey (Topeka, Kan.).  

Freshman goalkeeper Maddox Fergus (Overland Park, Kan.) earned the shutout stopping all five shots she faced.

In Sunday's win over Hawkeye the Cavaliers netted all three goals in the final 13 minutes of the first half.  Freshman midfielder Izzy Farris (Spring Hill, Kan.) scored her first goal in the 32nd minute. Sophomore midfielder Jillian Rogers (Overland Park, Kan.) provided the assist, her first of the season and fifth of her career. 

Sophomore midfielder Sydney Hammett (Lee's Summit, Mo.), a transfer from Emporia State, made it 2-nil with an unassisted goal in the 38th minute, and three minutes later assisted freshman forward Maya Wallace (Shawnee, Kan.) to make a 3-0 lead. It was Wallace's first goal of her career. 

Freshman goalkeeper Frankie Williams (Manchester, England) made her collegiate debut and was credited with one save in her shutout victory.

Johnson County will host two matches this coming weekend with Central Community College coming in on Friday, September 1 for a 2 p.m. start, followed by Iowa Western Community College on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. The Reivers are the No. 1 ranked team in NJCAA Division I women's soccer.
