Knight leads 8th-ranked Cavaliers to 4-1 road win at Hesston

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County women's soccer team, ranked eighth by the NJCAA and ninth by United Soccer Coaches, improved to 11-2-2 on the season with a 4-1 victory at Hesston Saturday afternoon.

Freshman forward Jenna Knight (Edwardsville, Kan.) scored two goals, including the game winner, and provided one assist to lead the Cavaliers to the victory and season sweep over the Larks.

Hesston got the board first with a goal by Kira Kumada in the 17th minute, but three minutes later sophomore midfielder Alandra Bailey (Topeka, Kan.) provided equalizer off an assist from sophomore forward Megan Everhart (McPherson, Kan.). 

In the first minute of the second half Bailey teamed up with Knight to make it 2-1 Cavaliers, then Knight put JCCC up 3-1 in th4 54th minute off a feed from freshman defender Montana-Rose Curry (Woongarrah, NSW, Australia), Curry put the finishing touches on the match in the 88th minute with her second goal of the season with Knight earning the assist.  With her five-point effort, Knight moved into the lead as the Cavaliers top scorer this year with 18 points (6 goals, 6 assists). 

Johnson County will close out their conference schedule on Wednesday, October 11, when they host Pratt at 3 p.m. They close out the season with a home non-conference match against Metropolitan on Tuesday, October 17 at 6 p.m.
