No. 2 JCCC volleyball easily sweeps Hesston

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 2-ranked Johnson County volleyball team made quick work against Hesston on Wednesday to remain unbeaten at 8-0. The Cavaliers swept the Larks winning 25-6, 25-9 and 25-9. 

Johnson County now leads the all-time series 27-to-5 and have not lost to Hesston since October 8, 2003.

As a team, the JCCC hitters posted a kill percentage of .429 with 50 total kills. Freshman Coral Netten led the way with eight kills and a kill percentage of .467. She also had six digs. 

Freshmen Tori Valentine and Kennedy Smalley and sophomore Isabella Flaska each tallied seven kills, and freshman Bella Hedke added five and hit .714.

Freshman Olivia Antonowich reached double digits in digs this season finishing with 14 to lead the team. Her previous high was five against North Dakota SCS and Lincoln Land. She also recorded seven aces tying the third most in a match in program history.

Sophomore setter Sydney Fiatte dished out a season high 25 assists to go along with seven digs, and freshman setter Wren VanCleave followed with 17 assists, matching her best effort of the season.

Johnson County will continue conference play on Wednesday, September 6 when they host Independence Community College at 6 p.m. JCCC leads the all-time series with the Pirates 51-4. Independence's last win over the Cavaliers was on September 13, 2006.
