OVERLAND PARK, Kan.  – For the first time this season a Johnson County Community College volleyball player has been recognized for their play earning a KJCCC Player of the Week honor. Fitting it came the same day that the Cavaliers took over the No. 1 position in the NJCAA Division II rankings.

JCCC libero Emily Silvers was selected the KJCCC D-II Defensive Player of the Week for week four posting one of her best efforts of the season last week. The sophomore recorded 95 total digs for an average of 5.27 per set, while helping lead the then No. 2 Cavaliers to five victories, including four over nationally ranked teams. She topped double figures in digs in all five matches and had 20 or more three times. Her 25-dig effort in the win over Lincoln Land is a new season high and her 22 dig totals against Illinois Central and Parkland tie for her third best efforts. Silvers currently ranks fourth in KJCCC D-II with 179 total digs and is third in digs per set at 4.84.

Cowley freshman outside hitter Laura Bonomi was named the Offensive Player of the Week and Cowley sophomore Rossana Papa garnered Setter of the Week.
