Johnson County earns fourth seed at NJCAA D-II National Volleyball Championship

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County Community College volleyball team was awarded the No. 4 seed at the 2023 NJCAA Division II Volleyball Championship November 15-18 at Alliant Energy Powerhouse Arena in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The Cavaliers (32-3) begin their quest for national title on Wednesday, November 15 at 6:30 p.m., and will face the winner of No. 13 Gulf Coast State College (19-5) or No. 20 Sauk Valley Community College (24-15).

Kansas Jayhawk Conference rival Cowley College (37-0) was awarded the No. 1 seed, followed by Scottsdale Community College (24-0) and Parkland College (44-4). The top four seeds in the field have combined to win nine national championships since 1999, including three of the last four. Johnson County has two titles, winning in 2005 and 2020-21. They have finished runner-up three times.

Parkland won titles in 1999, 2015, 2016 and 2021 and six runner-up finishes. Cowley has claimed two championships, wining in 2011 and 2013, with three runner-up finishes and Scottsdale won in 2019, and were runner-up in 2002 and last year.
