Johnson County uses explosive offense to take the first two games against Labette

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County scored 30 combined runs and had a combined 28 hits on Thursday to take the first two games of a four-game series with Labette.  JCCC also combined for 19 extra base hits, including seven home runs. The Cavalier won the first name 8-4, then crushed the Cardinals 22-0 in the second game. 

First baseman Colin Brueggemann led the barrage. He ripped a double and a home run to drive in four in the opener, and followed with a single, two doubles a homer, four runs and four RBI. 

Also in the second game, second baseman Blake Mozley was 3-for-4 with two homers, three runs and three RBI and designated hitter Noah Steele had a double, home run and four RBI. 

Other key performers were left fielder Cooper Combs (4-for-6, 1 double, 3 runs, 2 RBI); right fielder Nick Iannantone (2-for-4, double, HR, 3 runs 2 RBI); Jaxson Wentwoth (2-for-3, double, 2 runs, RBI); third baseman Jeremy Radar (double, 2 RBI)' and center fielder Greg Ziegler (single, RBI). 

On the mound, right-hander Danny Trehey put in one of the most dominant pitching efforts in team history. Trehey mowed down 15 batters while not allowing a single hit to register the 10the no-hitter in Johnson County history. His 15 strikeouts tie the third-most in a game in team history. 

The Cavaliers look to complete the sweep of the series on Saturday when they host the Cardinals on Saturday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
