OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County baseball team rallied for a 7-6 win over Dodge City to sweep the best-of-three series and advance to Kansas State University for the Region 6 Tournament.

The Cavaliers trailed 6-0 after three innings, allowing two runs in each of the first three. Johnson County second baseman Blake Mozley cut that deficit to three with a three-run, opposite field bomb over the left-center field fence. Mozley also scored a run in the two-run fifth and in the two-run seventh when JCCC took the lead. He was 3-for-3 on the day with a walk, three runs and three RBI.

Mozley now has 23 multiple-hit games, including six with three hits, and 18 multi-RBI games, both second-best on the team.

JCCC's two runs in the fifth came curtesy of a pair of Conquistador miscues. Mozely scored on a wild pitch then DH Nick Iannantone speed home after the catcher threw the ball away.

Still trailing 6-5 in the bottom of the seventh, the Cavaliers scored twice on a sacrifice fly RBI from both leftfielder Cooper Combs and first baseman Colin Brueggemann. Comb's sacrifice brought home centerfielder Greg Ziegler, and Brueggeman drove in Mozley with wat proved to be the game-winning RBI and run.

Right-hander Grant Garza came in relief behind Max Chapman and Maverick Hanna to pick up the victory. He pitched the final four inning and allowed one hit and struck out two batters.

Johnson County will travel to Manhattan, Kan., and Kansas State's Tointon Family Stadium for the finals of the Region 6/Plains District Tournament. The tournament opens play Tuesday, May 17 with the first game starting at 10 a.m., and runs through Saturday, May 21.
