Cavaliers advance to semifinals with 7-4 win over Kansas City Kansas

WICHITA, Kan. – No. 1-seed Johnson County Community College advanced to the semifinals of the Region 6 Baseball Championship with a 7-4 victory over cross-town rival Kansas City Kansas Community College Thursday night at Eck Stadium on the campus of Wichita State University. 

Sophomore second baseman Jack Mosh, sophomore first baseman Dagen Brewer and freshman designated hitter Miken Miller each drove in two runs for the Cavaliers. Mosh went 3-for-4 on the night, with two doubles.

Leadoff hitter Jake McClure had two singles, an RBI and scored twice, and two-hole hitter Maddox Fleck singled, walked and scored twice.

On the bump, freshman Brandon Stone had a solid outing. The right-hander allowed four runs, three earned on seven this and struck out eight over nine innings to earn the complete game victory and up his record to 12-1 on the year. Stone leads the conference in strikeouts with 106. His 12 wins are one shy of the program's season mark, and his three shy of the season strikeout record. 

Johnson County (50-10) will face No. 10 seed Barton Community College (41-19) today at 4 p.m. The Cougars advanced to the semifinals by defeating No. 2 seed Hutchinson and No. 3 seed Cowley.  Barton leads the all-time series 17-10.
