
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College freshman outfielder Bo Shinkle and sophomore right-hand pitcher Sam Novotny were named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference East Division Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week for week six. The two were key performers last week helping the Cavaliers to a four-game sweep over Allen Community College in both team's conference opening series.
Shinkle batted .692 (9-for-13) with two doubles, a triple, six runs, and five RBI while helping the Cavaliers sweep the four-game series against Allen in both team's conference openers. Shinkle also extended his streak to eight straight games. For the season, Shinkle is batting .456 with seven extra base hits and 17 RBI in 18 games played.
Novotny posted a dominating effort on the mound for the Cavaliers in their conference opening series with Allen. The sophomore right-hander held Allen to just one hit over five innings while striking out 10 batters. He also did not allow a walk. With the victory, Novotny improved to 2-1 in the season.
