OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No 19-ranked Johnson County softball team excelled in every facet of the game, combining powerful hitting, clutch pitching and solid defense, to sweep Fort Scott on Saturday afternoon, winning 10-2 and 6-0.

In the opener, JCCC ripped six doubles and 12 hits overall, and got contributions up-and-down the lineup.

Third baseman Reagan Neitzel had two doubles, scored twice and drove in three runs. Outfielder Katie Kolarik also had two doubles, scored a run and drove in two.  Second baseman Jaylee Jefferson had a single, double and two RBI, a first baseman Aspen Burgardt drove in two runs and outfielder Haley Bryant was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Right-hand pitcher Brielle Dee went the distance. She allowed two runs off six hits with seven strikeouts over six innings.

In the second game, Jalin Lavers was outstanding in the circle. The right-hander held the Greyhounds to only four hits and no runs while striking out a career-high nine batters to earn the complete-game shutout.

At the plate, leadoff hitter Izzy Carter belted a three-run home run in the JCCC' four-run fourth to give JCCC the cushion needed for the victory.

Burgardt, Bryant and Kamden Evans provided the other three RBI for the Cavaliers.

Johnson County has four games on tap for the week, beginning with a road trip to Independence on Tuesday, April 15, followed by a home double header with Coffeyville on Thursday, April 17. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
