Women’s soccer closes out regular season with a shutout over Butler

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County women's soccer team blanked the Butler Grizzlies, 1-0, on Saturday evening in the final regular season match of the 2021 season. The victory locked up a third place finish in the Kansas Jayhawk Conference East Division.

After a scoreless first half, sophomore midfielder Gail Logan fired a shot into the back of the net in the first minute of the second period off an assist from Darrian Gordon. It was Logan's fifth goal on the season, and her second game-winner. The assist was Gordon's third of the year. She leads the team with 19 points. 

Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Ways earned a full shutout victory stopping all four shots she faced.  Ways now stands 6-4-0 and she ranks fourth in the conference with a save percentage of .750 and fifth in saves with 51. 

Johnson County (7-6-0) will face Barton (10-3-1) on Wednesday, May 19 in the first round of the NJCAA Midwest District Tournament. The Cougars finished second in West Division standings behind Cowley.
