JCCC women’s soccer celebrates sophomore night with shutout

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County women's soccer team capped their celebration of sophomore night by posting a 3-0 victory over Neosho County on Wednesday night at the JCCC Soccer Complex. 

However, it was a true freshman who got the celebration going. Defender Claire Middleton scored her second goal of the season with a penalty kick at the 6:15 mark of the first half. 

Freshman forward Lexi Dillon made it 2-nil in the 22nd minute with her second goal of the season. Monique Fair earned the assist.

Sophomore Athena Dericotte capped her final game at JCCC with her second score of the year of a feed from sophomore veteran Kayla Ambrose, who upped her career point total to 38. 

Goalkeeper Olivia Ways picked her fifth win of the season of the season and 21st of her career, which moved her into a tie for seventh all-time at JCCC.

Johnson County closes out the regular season Sunday at Butler Community College at 1 p.m.  JCCC is 7-5-1 and in third place in the East Jayhawk Conference standings. Butler leads the East Division with a 13-4-1 record.
