JCCC women’s soccer season comes to an end in 4-3 loss at Hutchinson

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County women's soccer team saw its 2022 season come to a close on Sunday afternoon after suffering a 4-3 loss at No. 19 Hutchinson in the first round of the Plains District Tournament. JCCC defeated the Blue Dragons 3-1 earlier this season and had won seven straight in the series entering the match.

Hutchinson got on the board early with a goal by Aimee Maher just two-minutes, 31-seconds after the start. She made it 2-nil in the 20th minute with an unassisted goal. 

Freshman midfielder Alandra Bailey cut the deficit to one with her sixth goal of the season in the 46th minute off an assist from freshman forward Megan Everhart.

 The Blue Dragons upped their lead to two again in the 67th minute off the foot of Emma Scholl, but sophomore forward Riley Porter quickly got JCCC back in striking distance with her 21st career goal in the 68th minute. Freshman forward Emma Le was credited with the assist. 

Hutchinson went up two scores for the third time in the match in the 86th minute on goal by Hadie Lowe. 

Johnson County managed to pull with one goal again when freshman defender Willoughby Lam found Everhart for a score with just 23-seconds remaining, as Hutchinson was able to control the ball to close out the match.

Johnson County ends the season 8-11-0, while Hutchinson improves to 14-3-0.
