Ulberg named AVCA third-team All-American

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) recently announced its 45-member 2023 All-America team for Two-Year College women's volleyball, as chosen by Two-Year College Coaches Volleyball All-American Volleyball Committee, and Johnson County sophomore outside/right side hitter Sarina Ulberg was selected to the third-team. The 45 players represent all three National Junior College Athletic Association divisions, the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) and the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) 

Ulberg is the 10th player in team history to be as an AVCA All-American. Last week, she was named to the NJCAA D-II All-America first-team and VolleyballMag.com first-team. She is the 16th player in team history to be a NJCAA first-team selection, and she is the fourth overall player honored by VolleyballMag.com.  She also honored as a first-team All-Kansas Jayhawk Conference D-II and All-Region 6 D-II performer. 

Ulberg, along with her teammates, helped lead JCCC to a 37-4 record and third place finish at the NJCAA D-II National Tournament. 

Ulberg put together a tremendous sophomore season. She led the team, ranked fourth in the conference and 30th in the NJCAA with 408 total kills. Her 408 kills also rank 11th on JCCC's season chart. She posted a .293 kill percentage which also ranks fourth in the conference and her 3.07 kills per set average was seventh-best in the conference. 

Ulberg also had an outstanding national tournament, finishing with 75 total kills, fourth most ever in tournament play in team history. In JCCC's opening win over Gulf Coast State she collected 21 kills, which ties the fourth-best total in a match. 

For her career, Ulberg tallied 556 total kills, with ranks 20th all-time.
