
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – After posting five victories last week to improve to 10-0, the No. 2-ranked Johnson County Community College volleyball team took home two of the three Players of the Week honors for week three.
Freshman setter Taylin Stallbaumer was named Setter of the Week for the third straight week, and freshman defensive specialist Carlie Martin earned her second straight Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Stallbaumber had another big week leading the Lady Cavaliers offensive attack by producing 156 assists, an average of 8.21 per set. She topped double digits in all five matches, highlighted by a season-high 45 assists in a 3-1 win over No. 3 Parkland. Stallbaumer also tallied 52 digs, twice recording double figures. On the season, she has produced double figures in assists in all 10 matches and topped double digits in digs four times. She currently ranks third in the conference in total assists (297) and in assists-per-set (8.25).
Martin tallied 74 digs last week with 70 coming over the week top help JCCC knock off three ranked opponents. She began the weekend with a season-high 25 digs in a 3-2 win over Heartland and followed with 15, 14, 16 in wins over Lincoln Land, No. 3 Parkland and No. Sauk Valley. Martin currently ranks eighth in KJCCC D-II with 147 digs and a 4.20 digs-per-set average.
