Martin nabs fourth KJCCC D-2 Defensive Player of the Week honor

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – For the fourth time this season, Johnson County Community College libero/defensive specialist Carlie Martin has been selected as the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. She also was selected in weeks two, three and four. Cowley College's Jessi Richhart is the only other player in the conference to have been selected multiple times. 

This past week, Martin recorded 44 digs in seven sets to average 6.29 digs per set as the No. 2-ranked Lady Cavaliers earned a four-set win over Metropolitan Community College before falling in a battle of the top two teams in NJCAA Division 2 against No. 1 Cowley College. Martin also had 34 receptions in 35 receiving attempts. 

For the season, Martin ranks fifth in the conference with 378 total digs and is third with a digs-per-set average of 4.72. She has reached double figures in digs in 21 of 24 matches highlighted by a season high 32 in a 3-1 win over Des Moines Area on September 13.  Last week, she posted 27 digs against Metropolitan and 17 against Cowley.
