It wasn’t won of their prettiest victories of the season, but the No. 1 seed Johnson County Community College baseball team (47-10) opened the Region 6/Plains District Tournament with an 8-5 win over Pratt Community College to take a 1-0 advantage in the best-of-three series.

The No. 2-ranked Johnson County Community College Cavaliers baseball team (46-10, 28-4) got a walk off two-out, two-run double from freshman Easton Roe in the bottom of the ninth inning Saturday, rallying to defeat Kansas City Kansa Community College (44-10, 25-8) 6-5 to secure the Kansas Jayhawk Conference East Division title outright.

Johnson County Community College designated hitter/infielder Dagen Brewer was among the top-100 players to make the Prep Baseball Report midseason list. The sophomore out of Topeka, Kan., was tabbed the 29th best player through the halfway point of the 2024 season.
