Rector named week 2 KJCCC Pitcher of the Week

The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) issued its second player and pitcher of the week for the 2020 season today, and Johnson County sophomore right-hander Paul Rector (Victory Christian HS/Broken Arrow, Okla.) was selected for the pitcher honor–.  Cloud County catcher Griffin Larsen was selected as the player of the week.

Rector pitched five innings of hitless relief to help the Cavaliers to a 6-5 victory over Ellsworth last Sunday. Rector, who earned the victory, did not allow a hit or a run and struck out eight of the 18 batters he faced.  Rector was credited with the victory.

Last season, Rector earned All-Kansas Jayhawk Conference second-team after posting five saves and an ERA of 3.24 over 33.1 innings of relief.

Since 2014, Johnson County baseball players and pitchers have been honored 33 times by the conference, including two in the first two weeks this year. Freshman outfielder Quinton Hall was the week one position player of the week.
