
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 8-ranked Johnson County baseball saw its 15-game winning streak snapped on Sunday at Coffeyville falling 5-4 but rebounded for 12-2 win to secure a series victory. JCCC won the first games of the series last Wednesday.
The Cavaliers pushed across a run in the top of the seventh to tie the game at four, but Coffeyville managed to get the walk off in the bottom half the inning.
Outfielder Jeremy Comer collected two hits including a double and drove in two runs to lead JCCC's offense. Outfielders Bo Shinkle and Ryker Edwards also drove in a run.
In the second game the Cavaliers piled up 12 hits with Comer leading the way. He went 3-for-5 with a triple and three runs scored. Shinkle, catcher Boston Bruce and first baseman Easton Roe each drove in two runs.
Denton Biller earned the victory. The freshman right-hander gave up four hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out five to keep his season record perfect at 9-0. Hudson Byrd and Ashton Hartwig each appeared in relief for the Cavaliers.
Johnson County has one final series remaining in the regular season. They travel to Fort Scott on Wednesday, April 30 to take on the Greyhounds, then return to JCCC to close out the series with a doubleheader on Thursday, April 1. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
