JCCC scores 15 in first on their way to a 27-7 win over Baker JV

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County baseball team trailed Baker University JV 4-0 after the top of the first inning, but that deficit did not last long as the Cavaliers exploded for 15 runs in the bottom half of the inning on their to a 27-7 victory. 

Johnson County had five player drive in three or more runs in the game led by Quinton Hall and Noah Steele each driving in five runs. Hall was 2-for-2 with a double and home run and scored twice. Steele went 3-for-5 with a homer and came across the plate three times.

Conner Simmons ripped two doubles and a single, scored three runs and drove in four. Will Hudler had a single and a double, scored three and drove in three and Brevon Lee had a triple and three RBI. 

Other key efforts were turned in by Blake Anderson (3-for-4, 3 runs, 1 RBI), Jeremy Rader (1 walk, 2 runs, 1 RBI) and Nick Iannantone (1 walk, 1 run, 1 RBI).

Cooper Combs scored four runs and got on base five times. Once with a single, the other four times he was hit by a pitch, which set a new single game record at JCCC. 

Johnson County used five pitchers in the game. They combined to allow three hits, six runs, five earned, nine walks and nine strikeouts. Garrett Stoll earned the victory, his first of the season. 

The Cavaliers return to conference play on Thursday, March 17, when the host the first two games of a four-game series with Neosho County. First pitch is at 1 p.m. Johnson County opened conference play last weekend and took 3-of-4 games against Coffeyville.
