OVERLAND PARK, Kan. –  The No. 4 ranked Johnson County baseball (52-7) team moved one step closer toward a Plains District title by downing Seward County 7-3 Wednesday afternoon at Eck Stadium on the campus of Wichita State University. They will face Butler (39-21) Thursday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.  The Grizzlies advanced by edging Fort Scott 3-2 in the opening game of the tournament.

Johnson County plated five runs in the bottom of the second inning to turn a 1-0 deficit into a four-run leads. They added two more in the bottom of the fourth to go up 7-1. The Saints managed to score two runs, but that would be the end of their offensive push.

Left fielder Cooper Combs singled and homered to drive in three runs. Designated hitter Dagen Brewer collected a two-run double and shortstop Dylan Hufft had singles and two RBI. Brewer has been a hit machine through three postseason games. He has seven hits, including two homers and a double, and has driven in nine runs.

Left-hander Luc Fladda allowed three runs off six hits while strikeout out seven batters in his 7.2 innings of work to remain unbeaten at 11-0. Right-hander John Chambers pithed 1.1 innings of scoreless relief to earn his sixth save on the season.
