Dagen Brewer has record performance to open series at Fort Scott

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County sophomore designated hitter Dagen Brewer set single-game records with four home runs and nine RBI to power the Cavaliers to a 15-6 victory to open a four-game series with Fort Scott. He also had a single to give him five hits which ties JCCC game record. 

Brewer homered in the first, second, sixth and seventh innings highlighted by a grand slam in the top of the first inning, the first by a JCCC hitter this season. He had a solo shot in the second, and two-run blasts in the sixth and seventh innings.

The Cavaliers collected 14 hits in the game including three from left fieler Jake McClure and two from second baseman Jack MoshRyker Edwards belted a two-run homer and catcher Cal Kilgore drove in two runs with a double. 

Right-hander Sam Novotny picked up the victory in relief. 

Fort Scott evened the series with a 9-6 victory in the following game. 

Johnson County opened the scoring in the first after an error scored one run. The Cavaliers added to their lead in the top of the second after center fielder Matt Lemke hit a sacrifice fly and McClure doubles and scored. 

The Greyhounds scored two in the third, one in each the fourth and fifth, three in the seventh and two in the eighth to seal the victory. 

The two teams return to the field on Saturday at JCCC for a twin bill. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
