Dance team captures eighth straight Region VI title

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County Community College dance team recently competed at the Region VI Dance and Cheer Championships at Olathe (Kan.) East High School, Sunday, March 5, competing in team performance, jazz, pom, hip-hop along with solo divisions. Johnson County came away as the Region VI champion for the eighth consecutive year. 

The JCCC dance team was the only team to compete in all four divisions and brought home first place in all four: jazz, pom, team performance and hip-hip. Their team performance routine, choreographed by coach Amy Sellers, was awarded Grand Champion for being the highest scoring routine in the entire competition.

The team also entered three soloists in the solo division and brought home top three placements out of 20 entries.  Freshman Lindsay Dodd captured first place. Freshman Parker Paredes placed second and Kenadi Crowder took home third place.

The team is now preparing to compete at the NDA National Collegiate Championship in Daytona Beach, Fla., April 5-9.
