
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Last week, sophomore forward Alan Lopez of the Johnson County Community College men's soccer team was named 2022 first-team All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association earlier this week. Today he added United Soccer Coaches All-American to his resume', becoming just the fifth player in team history to earn that distinction, and first since 2013.
Lopez was one of 15 to be selected for All-American in men's D-I soccer. There were 104 total male and female athletes selected in all three divisions of two-year soccer. Players on the this year's United Soccer Coaches Junior College All-America teams will be recognized for their accomplishments at the All-America Ceremony and Reception on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Covention.
This season, Lopez led JCCC, ranked second in the conference and 16th in the NJCAA with 33 points. He also ranked fourth in the conference and tied for 21st in the NJCAA with 13 goals scored. Lopez produced three multiple goal matches and scored four game winning goals, third most in the conference and 11th in the NJCAA. Twice during the season, he was selected the KJCCC Men's Division I Offensive Player of the Week, earning the award in weeks one and 11.
For his career Lopez finished with 63 points, 23 goals, 17 assists and six game winning goals. His 63 points rank tied for fourth all-time a JCCC. He also ranks sixth in career goals, fourth in career assists and tied the career mark for game winning goals with six.
Lopez was also as first-team all-conference selection last year and was also twice named player of the week.
