Cavaliers rally behind Zuniga’s hat trick for 5-3 win at Hesston

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County midfielder Dominic Zuniga (Wichita, Kan.)scored three goals, two in the second half, to help the No. 13-ranked Johnson County men's soccer team rally from a 3-1 deficit to a 5-3 victory at Hesston Saturday afternoon. Zuniga's hat trick was the second of the season for the Cavaliers, and the 45th all-time in history. 

Zuniga netted the first goal of the match in the sixth minute off an assist from freshman defender Noah Bynum (Lee's Summit, Mo.), but the Larks quickly got the equalizer in the 10th minute. They took the lead in the 50th minute and upped their advantage to two goals one minute later.

Freshman midfielder Monty Almaliky (Wichita, Kan.) cut into the Larks lead with an unassisted score in the 55th minute and four minutes later Zuniga tied the match with an assist going to sophomore forward Jacksyn McIntyre (Blue Springs, Mo.).

Zuniga completed the hat trick in the 65th minute, scoring what proved to be the game winner. McIntyre added an insurance goal in the 86th minute.

Johnson County (10-3-3) has three games remaining on their regular season schedule, all at home, beginning with Pratt on Wednesday, October 11 at 5 p.m. They host Southeast on Saturday, October 14 at 4 p.m., and Western Iowa Technical on Monday, October. 16 at 5 p.m.
