OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College head softball coach Aubree Brattin-Volkens earned her 400th career victory on Saturday as the Lady Cavaliers swept Independence Community College in a conference double header.

JCCC opened with a 9-1 win then completed the sweep with a 14-2 victory, upping the team's season mark to 29-7.

Third baseman Aspen Burgardt, shortstop Jaylee Jefferson, center fielder Eve Morris left fielder Taryn Burkardt led the offense each collecting multiple hits.

Burgardt collected three hits including two doubles, walked, scored four times and drove in two runs.  Jefferson had a single, a home run, scored two runs and drove in two. Morris ripped two doubles and drove in two and Burkardt singled twice, walked, stole two bases, and scored two runs. 

Jalin Lavers started in the circle and earned the complete game victory. The right-hander allowed just three hits, one runs, walked three and struck out five. 

Johnson County put the second game away early, plating five runs in the first and three more in the second. The Lady Cavaliers blew game open with a six-run fourth inning. 

Burgardt collected to more doubles, scored three times and drove in a run. Second baseman Izzy Carter and Morris each had a double and three RBI.  First baseman Kate Ediger belted a two-run homer in the first. DP Deja Gardenhire ripped two doubles and drove in two and Burkardt walk three times, stole four bases, and scored three runs. 

Right-hander Maggie McNally pitched four strong innings to earn the win. She allowed five hits, one run and struck out nine batters.   

Johnson County will travel to Hesston on Thursday for two games, then return home to host Highland on Saturday, April 20 for a twin bill.
