JCCC women’s soccer notches first victory of the season

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County women's soccer team earned its first victory of the season Wednesday afternoon with 4-nil shutout at Allen. JCCC opened the season with a pair of one-goal losses to Indian Hills and Illinois Central.

Freshman forward Megan Everhart (McPherson, Kan.) got the Lady Cavaliers on the board in the 42nd minute of the first half off a feed from sophomore forward Riley Porter (Kansas City, Kan.).

Two minutes later sophomore midfielder Darrian Gordon (Maryville, Mo.) put JCCC up 2-0 heading the ball past Red Devil keeper Daniela Gonzalez. 

In the 53rd minute Gordon picked up an assist on a goal by freshman defender Willoughby Lam (Lawrence, Kan.), and freshman Emma Le (Independence, Mo.) capped the scoring in the 79th minute with the assist going to sophomore midfielder Madalyn Crow (Salina, Kan .). 

Freshman goalkeeper Olivia Seston (Shawnee, Kan.) saved 10 shots in the victory.

Johnson County travels to Dallas this weekend to take on Dallas College Richland on Friday, August 26 and Dallas College Mountain View on Sunday, August 28. They return home to host Coffeyville on Wednesday, August 21 at 5 p.m.
