JCCC nets eight first half goals on way to a 12-0 blowout over State Fair

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 3-ranked Johnson County Community College women's soccer team picked up its second straight shutout victory at the JCCC. Soccer Complex Monday night, as the Lady Cavaliers overwhelmed State Fair Community College 12-0. It marked the 42nd time JCCC has recorded a double-digit shutout, and it was eh 255th all-time in program history. 

The Lady Cavaliers scored State Fair with eight first half goals, then put the match away with four more in the final 45 minutes. 

Sophomore forward Leticia Tessi, the 2022 KJCCC D-II scoring leader while at Pratt, started the barrage in the sixth minute and added another in the 17th minute for her second straight two-goal effort.

Freshman midfielder Tatum Bressette recorded the team's first hat trick on the season, finding the back for JCCC's fourth, 11th and 12th goals, upping her season total to four. She also had an assist on the eighth goal to give her a seven-point evening.

Sophomore forward Maya Wallace, the KJCCC D-II week 1 Player of the Week, also scored twice and provided the assist on one of Tessi's and Bressette's goals. She netted the second and sixth goals and assisted on the third and 11th scores.

Other key efforts were turned in by freshman midfielder Brecken Hoy (1 goal, 1 assist), sophomore midfielder Lotta Meindl (1 goals, 1 assist), freshman forward Jill Lenherr (1 goal), sophomore forward Jenna Knight (1 goal), sophomore forward Karsen Kohler (1 goal), freshman midfielder Lily Marshall (1 assist), sophomore midfielder/defender Sydney Puetz (1 assist), sophomore Montana-Rose Curry (1 assist), freshman defender Ashley Chaput (1 assist) and sophomore midfielder/defender Brenley Cunningham (1 assist). 

Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Stoskopf stopped all three shots she faced to earn her first victory and shutout at JCCC. 

Johnson County (2-0-2) returns to the pitch on Wednesday afternoon and will face a team ranked in the top-10 nationally for a third time if five matches. No. 10 Iowa Central Community College (0-1-2) comes to town for a 2 p.m. tilt. The Lady Cavaliers are 4-1-1 all-time against the Tritons. In their last meeting during the 2019 season, JCCC won 6-0. They have outscored Iowa Central 22-to-5 over the six matches played in the series.
