JCCC volleyball advances to Plains District A Final

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 2-ranked Johnson County Community College volleyball team cleared the first hurdle toward getting back to the NJCAA D-II National Tournament for a third consecutive year by sweeping Allen Community College Wednesday night at JCCC Gymnasium. The Cavaliers won by the scored of 25-18, 25-15, 25-15 to up their season mark to 33-3. 

Johnson County will face Coffeyville Community College (26-9) in the championship match Saturday, November 5 at Friends University Garvey Gym in Wichita, Kan. The match is scheduled to start one hour following the District B final between Cowley (36-3) and Kansas City Kansas (24-9), which is scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m. 

Freshman right-side hitter Kylee Harris was JCCC top hitter in the match, finishing with 10 kills and a kill percentage of .529. She also had six digs and two blocks. 

Also turning in solid performances at the net were sophomore outside hitter Jadyn Troutman (9 kills, 5 blocks), freshman outside/middle hitter Camilla Ossola (8 kills, .365 kill %), and freshman middle/right-side hitter Isabella Flaska (7 kills).

Sophomore setter Lauren McClure was solid running offense finishing with 28 assists, giving her 33 matches with 10+ assists this season, and 19 of 20+.\

 In the back, sophomore Addyson Mock added 18 digs to bring her season and career totals to 589 and 834.  Freshman defensive specialist Sydney Fiatte was also in double figures with 11 and freshman libero Emily Silvers finished with nine digs.
