OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College sophomore Xavier Womack will continue his athletic and academic careers at Pittsburg State University. The 6-6 forward from St. Louis, Mo., signed a letter-of-intent to play for Gorillas and head men's basketball coach Kim Anderson. Pittsburg State finished 17-13 last season. 

"He is a talented athlete who we feel will be a great addition to our team next year," Anderson said in a release by the school. "Having lost six players through graduation, we definitely need to add some size. He has played in an outstanding program at Johnson County Community College under Mike Jeffers. We look for him to add scoring, defense and rebounding." 

In his two seasons at Johnson County, Womack helped the Cavaliers to a school record 31 wins, a Region VI title and a runner-up finish at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament in 2018-19. He also was part of back-to-back conference championship teams. 

Last season, Womack played in 35 games, and averaged 8.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, shot 47.2 percent from the field and 70.8 percent at the free throw line. He scored in double figures 16 times and topped 10 or more rebounds twice. He started all four games in the national tournament, and averaged 7.0 points and 6.0 rebounds. He finished with 28 total points and 24 total rebounds in the tournament, and his 24 rebounds tie for eighth all-time by a JCCC player in tournament play. 

As a freshman, Womack was selected All-Kansas Jayhawk D-II Conference second-team and was named the D-II Freshman of the Year. He played in 31 games, 26 as a starter. He was the team's second leading scorer at 12.5 points per game, and the team's top rebounder at 7.7 per game. His 7.7 rebound average led the Kansas Jayhawk D-II Conference and his 239 total boards ranked second. He topped double digits in points 20 times, and had nine double digit rebound games. He led the team with nine double-doubles. 

Three times during his freshman season he was selected as the KJCCC D-II Player of the Week, earning the award in weeks five, 11 and 14. 

For his career, Womack posted an average of 10.4 points per game and 6.2 rebounds per game. He scored in double figures 28 times and had 11 double-doubles of points and rebounds. He finished with 687 points and 409 rebounds.
