No. 2 Cavaliers upset at home by Fort Scott

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County men's basketball team, ranked 2nd in NJCAA Division II, lost for the first time since the season opener on January 30th, falling to Fort Scott 78-49 Saturday afternoon at JCCC. The 29-point margin is the largest loss for the Cavaliers in the 107-game series history. 

The loss drops Johnson County's season mark to 13-2, and snaps their 13-game winning streak. However, the Cavaliers remain in first place in the conference standings at 4-1 and with a winning percentage of .800.  Kansas City Kansas is second at 2-1 and .667. Fort Scott improved to 10-4 and 3-2 in conference play. 

JCCC sophomore guard Jaycson Bereal was the only Cavalier to finish in double figures. He posted his second double-double of the season, finishing with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Bereal hit 8-of-11 shots, including a 3-poiter. The rest of the team shot 13-for-40 and 3-of-13 from 3- point range. 

Sophomore forward Jaland Whitehead, the team's top scorer and rebounder, was held to seven point and seven boards.  Sophomore forward Jacob Coleman followed with six points. 

Three Greyhounds finished in double figures, led by Justus Mouton and Saadique Perkins each with 16 points. Freedy Reeves, Jr., added 13. 

The Cavaliers return to the floor to host Hesston on Wednesday night, March 24 at 4 p.m.
