Down 13 Cavaliers rally for 65-59 win over Southeast

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 5-ranked Johnson County men's basketball team rallied from a 13-point second half deficit to down Southeast 65-59 on Saturday afternoon at JCCC Gymnasium. 

The Cavaliers trailed 48-35 then proceeded to outscore the Strom 30-to-11 the final 12 minutes of the game to pull out the victory and remained unbeaten at 10-0.  

Freshman guard Tymer Jackson scored 15 of his game-high 22 points, and freshman guard Seth Chargois tallied all 10 of his points in the second half to lead the Cavaliers to the win. Jackson was 6-of-10 with two 3-pointers in the second half, and 9-of-19 with three treys for the game. He also had four assists and two steals. Chargois hit 4-of-6 shots and two 3-pointers and grabbed four boards. 

Freshman forward Cory Davila continued his hot shooting, making 4-of-5 shots, upping his conference leading field goal percentage of 73.8 percent. 

Southeast held sophomore All-American forward Jaland Whitehead to just five points, but he was the game's top rebounder with 13 and shot blocker with three.

Other key performers were Xavier Kahube (6 points, 5 rebounds): Savonni Love (6 points, 5 rebounds) and Zion Buckner (5 points, 5 assists).

The Cavaliers host Bethany College JV on Wednesday, December 1 at 7 p.m., and John Wood Community College (6-3) on Saturday, December 4 at 4 p.m.
