Five Cavaliers score in double figures in 86-66 victory over Baker JV

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County hit 22-of-37 second half field goal attempts to fuel am 86-66 victory over Baker JV in the Cavaliers final non-conference game of the season. With the win JCCC improved to 12-4 on the season. 

Five Cavaliers scored in double figures, led by sophomore forwards Xavier Kahube and Ryan Gordon each with 20 points.  Kahube scored 10 points in each half, while Gordon did most of his damage in the second half pouring in 14 of his 20 points.  The two combined to hit 17-of-26 shots 

The Cavaliers were without the services of scoring leader Tymer Jackson so JCCC needed multiple guards to step up and they did. Sophomore guard Kaleim Taylor finished with 12 points, freshman guard Trayvon Foster followed with 11, sophomore guard Seth Chargois continued his recent solid play posting 10 points and sophomore guard Josh Jordon added nine point off the bench.

Freshman forward Kyler Mann was the team's top rebounder with 10, and led the squad with five assists. He also chipped in four points.

Baker was led by Javin Shaw with 19 points. 

Johhson County will open its 2023 conference slate on the road against Kansas City Kansas on Saturday, January 14 at 3 p.m., then return home to host Fort Scott on Wednesday, January 18 at 7:30 p.m.
