Hot shooting Cavaliers fly past the Cardinals 83-54

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County men's basketball team shot 68 percent in the second half to go from a nine-point half time lead to a 29-point blowout over Labette on Saturday afternoon at JCCC Gymnasium.

Leading 34-25 at the break, the Cavaliers outscored the Cardinals by 20 in the second half for an 83-54 victory and 14th win of the season.  JCCC shot 57 percent for the game, 43 percent from 3-point range and 85 percent from the free throw line. Labette was 32 percent overall and 20 percent beyond the arc. 

JCCC sophomore All-American guard Tymer Jackson led all scorers with 27 points, 17 in the second half. He was 9-of-17 shooting, 4-of-5 from 3-point range, and a perfect 5-for-5 at the free throw line. He also had five assists and four rebounds. 

Sophomore forwards Ryan Gordon and Xavier Kahube also finished in double figures. Gordon poured in 15 points on 5-of-7 from the field and 5-of-5 at the line.  Kahube followed with 14 points and six boards. He hit 4-of-8 shots and was 6-of-7 at the charity stripe. 

Freshman forward Kyler Mann provided a spark off the bench with eight points and sophomore guard Seth Chargois contributed five points, five rebounds and four assists. 

Johnson County travels to Hesston, Kan., Wednesday, January 25, to face a Larks team that is 9-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
