Hot start leads to 77-56 win over Highland

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Fueled by a red-hot start the Johnson Count men's basketball team defeated Highland 77-56 on Saturday afternoon at JCCC Gymnasium. 

The Cavaliers opened the game on a 14-0 run and built their lead to 25-3 with 10:44 left in. the first half. They eventually ended the half leading by 25, 46-21. 

Sophomore All-American guard Tymer Jackson scored 13 of his game-high 22 points in JCCC's first half run. He finished the game 9-of-17 shooting and was 4-of-8 from 3-point range. He also tallied five rebounds and three assists. 

Sophomore forward Ryan Gordon recorded his second double-double of the season finishing with 17 points and a season-high 14 rebounds. He hit 7-of-12 shots and 3-of-4 free throws. He also had a team-high four blocked shots. 

Also posted double figures scoring were sophomore guards Seth Chargois and Desi Williams, both tallying 10 points. 

The Cavaliers travel to Chanute, Kan., on Wednesday, February 1 to take on Neosho County, then they return to host conference leader Allen on Saturday, February 4 at 4 p.m.
