OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 12-ranked Johnson County Community College men's basketball team shot a season-best-52 percent from the field and defeated Sterling College JV 88-62 on Friday night at JCCC Gymnasium. With the win, the Cavaliers extend their win streak to seven straight and improve to 8-1 overall on the season.
JCCC freshman guard Gavin Harvey led the Cavaliers with 16 points, hitting 7-of-11 shots, including two 3-pointers. He also dished out a season-high nine assists.
Sophomore guard Steven Samuels followed with 13 points and team-high three steals. Sophomore forward Brandon Mann and sophomore guard Ben Miller each contributed 11 points.
JCCC also got solid numbers from freshman guard Joey Robinson (8 points, 6 rebounds), freshman forward Tavian Cruse (7 points, 7 rebounds), sophomore forward Traeger Rader (7 points, 7 rebounds) and sophomore guard Mauyron Turner (6 points, 4 rebounds).
Carson Shimer led the Warriors with 17 points, followed by Juan Gomez with 15.
Johnson County returns to action on Tuesday, November 26 when they host Kansas Christian College JV at 7 p.m.
