
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference announced its Men's Basketball Players of the Week for week 15 and Johnson County Community College forward Tavian Cruse was named as the Division II winner. This is the second time this year he has been selected.
Cruse averaged 16.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, and made 79.3 percent of his shot attempts while leading the 10th-ranked Cavaliers to three wins last week to help JCCC secure the 2024-25 KJCCC Division 2 regular season title. Cruse opened the week with 17 points and eight rebounds in a 109-53 win over Baker JV before tallying 20 points and nine rebounds in a 91-60 win at Labette. Capping off the week in a win over Fort Scott, Cruse had 12 points and 10 rebounds in an 80-74 win that allowed Johnson County to improve to 26-3 overall this season.
For the season, Cruse is nearly averaging a double-double at 12.1 points and 9.7 rebounds. He has scored in double figures in 20 games, topped double digits in rebounds 15 times and posted 11 double-doubles.
Cruse's 9.7 rebound average leads the conference and is tied for 15th in the NJCAA. He also ranks third in the conference in shooting percentage at 53.4 percent.
