OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 3-ranked Johnson County Community College men's basketball team never trailed Saturday afternoon, rolling to an 88-63 victory over Metropolitan Community College.
The Cavaliers controlled the game from start to finish behind a balanced offensive effort and strong defensive pressure, improving to 13-0 on the season heading into the holiday break.
Sophomore guard Aidan Wing led JCCC with 19 points, connecting on 6-of-13 shots while going a perfect 7-for-7 at the free throw line. Wing also tied for the team lead with seven rebounds and added three assists.
Sophomore guard Gavin Harvey produced his second highest scoring effort on the season with 18 points while equaling his season high in assists with nine. He also led JCCC with three steals.
Sophomore forward Tavian Cruse followed with 17 points and seven boards, shotting an efficient 6-for-8 from the field, including three 3-pointers, and converting both free throw attempts.
Freshman guard Trey Fulcher added 12 points, while freshman forward Bryce Walker sparked the Cavaliers off the bench with 10 points and seven rebounds.
Devonte Watson led the Wolves with 20 points followed by Pierre Smith with 15.
Johnson County will return to action on Sunday, January 4 when they travel to Lincoln, Nebraska to face Southeast Community College.
