
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – After cracking the top-20 last week, the Johnson County men's soccer team moved up one spot in the NJCAA Division I Poll this week to No. 19 after posting a 3-1 victory over Neosho County last week.
Johnson County is one of five Kansas Jayhawk Conference teams appearing in this week's poll. Cowley (7-1-0) is the highest ranked team at No. 4, followed by Barton (9-2-0) at No. 9, Coffeyville (8-2-0) at No. 13 and Dodge City (8-2-) at No. 14.
The Cavaliers (8-3-0) travel to face Coffeyville on Wednesday, September 28 and then host Cowley on Saturday, October 1. Johnson County lost to the Ravens 1-0 back on August 31. JCCC was to travel to Barton last Saturday, but the game was postponed and has yet to be rescheduled.
Individually the Cavaliers have two players ranked in the top 10 in scoring. Sophomore forward Alan Lopez is second overall with 22 points. He is also tied for fourth in goals scored with eight and tied for third in assists with six.
Freshman forward Jacksyn McIntyre is tied for sixth overall with 18 points. He ranks eighth in goals scored with seven and tied for ninth with four assists.
In the nets, sophomores Cole Stewart and Brandon McGaugh are both ranked among the top keepers in the conference. Stewart ranks third in goals against average (0.75), second in save percentage (.864) and ninth in total saves (19).
McGaugh is fifth in GAA (1.32), third in save percentage (.818), fourth in total saves (36), tied for fifth in wins (5) and tied for second with three shutouts.
