OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – For the second consecutive week the Johnson County Community College men's soccer team swept the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division II Men's Soccer Players of the Week honors with sophomore midfielder Jordan Gaona nabbing the player of the week and sophomore Brody Macoubrie earning goalkeeper of the week.
Gaona propelled the No. 7-ranked Cavaliers to a 1-0 victory over Southeast last week firing a shot through the defense into the back of the net off a rebound in the 78th minute to break a scoreless tie. It was Gaona's first goal of his career.
Macoubrie stopped all four shots he faced to help JCCC to a 1-0 victory over Southeast in his lone action of the week. It was his first shutout of the season and fourth of his career. With the shutout, Macoubrie lowered his goals against average to 1.50 on the season, third-best in KJCCC D-II men's soccer. Last season, Macoubrie was honored as the KJCCC D-II Goalkeeper of the Week six times.
