OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – United Soccer Coaches recently announced its 2024 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Americans for all levels of college soccer, and Johnson County Community College sophomore defender Carson Schmitt was named to the first-team for two-year men's college soccer. It is the third consecutive year that head coach Jeff Cole has had a student-athlete selected as a scholar All-American.
Student-athletes on this year's Scholar All-America Teams will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony & Reception on Saturday, January 1, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.
This past fall Schmitt was a key member of JCCC's defensive unit that posted 1.44 goals against average with four shutouts while allowing just 26 goals. The team's 1.44 GAA ranked third in the district the 26 goals allowed were the second fewest. Schmitt also helped on the offensive provided an assist on the first goal in a 3-1 victory against Wake Technical in the second match of the season.
The Cavaliers finished the season runner-up in the conference race and in the Region 6 Tournament with a 14-4-0 mark. Johnson County was also ranked No. 8 in the final NJCAA Division II Poll.
