Maddox Burkitt had a story book career at Free State and kept it rolling last fall … One of the top arms on every level and will be a big part of the staff this spring … Will be used in several roles but he will be very important to winning games this season.

Was 1-0 with four saves, 39 strikeouts in 24.2 innings pitched with an earned run average of 3.65 … Holding opposing batters to an average of .245 … His four saves tie for seventh in the conference and 14th on JCCC’s season chart … Earned his first save in JCCC’s season opening 9-7 win over North Arkansas, striking out the only batter he faced (2-5-23) … Allowed hit, two walks with three strikeouts over an inning to earn the save in a 3-0 win over No. 5 Crowder (2-11-23) … Allowed a walk with five strikeouts over 2.0 innings in a 14-4 win against Southwestern (2-18-23) … Allowed just two hits over 2.2 innings and struck out five in a 6-4 win at Kansas City Kansas (3-25-23) … Scattered three hits and struck out four batters over 2.1 innings in a 17-5 at Highland for his first victory (4-8-23) … Logged a season high 4.0 innings, allowing a hit, two walks with three strikeouts for a successful save opportunity in a 12-4 win over Neosho County (4-16-23) … Hurled 2.0 innings of perfect relief with four strikeouts in a 10-2 win at Labette (5-3-23).
