Cavaliers are highly touted in final season rankings as postseason is set to begin

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The 2024 baseball regular season has come to an end and the final regular season rankings have been issued. The Johnson County baseball team sits on top three major polls and is ranked No. 2 in two others. 

The Cavaliers are ranked No. 1 by Juco Baseball Blog, Dream Big Athletics and 2-Year Baseball, and sit in the second position in the NJCAA and Prep Baseball  Report rankings. 

Also, with the 2024 regular season concluded, it's now time for postseason baseball.

The Cavaliers, by virtue of winning the Kansas Jayhawk Conference East Division title, earned the No. 1 seed in the Region 6/Plains District Tournament. They begin their quest for the title with a best-of-three series at home against No. 16 seed Pratt on Thursday, May 9 with first pitch at 1 p.m. Game two will take place on Friday, May 10 and if necessary, a third game will be played on Saturday, May 11.

The winner advances to the double-elimination tournament at Eck Stadium on the campus of Wichita State May 15-19. The tournament champion will go on the NJCAA Division I World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado May 2 – June 1.  Johnson County is the defending champion.
