OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) released its first regular season poll and the Johnson County women's soccer team moved up five spots from its preseason No. 18 ranking to No. 13.

The preseason No. 1 team Phoenix College remained on top of the poll, followed by Holmes Community College, Northwest Mississippi Community College, Jones College and Heartland Community College.

This is the first time since the final poll of the 2019 season that JCCC has appeared in a regular season poll. Overall, in the 25 years as a program, Johnson County has been ranked in 109 of 229 polls (48%).

JCCC is off to an impressive start this year. After opening the season with a 3-1 loss at No. 1 ranked Phoenix, the Lady Cavaliers have reeled off three straight shutouts, two coming over last weekend's homestand.

2022 All-Conference forward Megan Everhart currently leads the team with five points with two goals and an assist. Sophomore forward Sydney Hammet is one point back with a goal and two assists.

In the nets, freshman keeper Maddox Fergus is 2-0 and has not allowed a goal in her two starts. In her last outing, Fergus saved all five shots she faced to earn a 2-0 shutout over Indian Hills, which earned her the KJCCC D-II Women's Soccer Player of the Week.
