JCCC sweeps weekly conference honors for women’s soccer

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College freshman midfielder Lotta Meindl and freshman goalkeeper Maddox Fergus were selected as the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference women's soccer player and goalkeeper of the week, giving the Cavaliers a sweep of the awards in week four. This is the second time this season Fergus has been honored, the Meindl is the third JCCC field player to be selected, joining teammates Megan Everhart (Week 1) and Jenna Knight (Week 3).

Meindl helped the Cavaliers go 1-0-1 against a pair of top-20 ranked teams last week. Against No. 20 Neosho County on September 6, Meindl provided perfect feed to teammate Sydney Hammett with 36 seconds to play for the game tying goal. Three days later she scored an unassisted goal in the 21st minute that proved to be the game winner in a 3-1 win at No. 11 ranked Allen. That was Meindl's second goal of the season and second game winner.

Fergus saved three of the four shots she faced to help lead the No. 10 ranked Cavaliers to a 3-1 victory at No. 11 Allen on Saturday afternoon. With the win Fergus improved her season mark to 3-1-0 while lowering her GAA to 1.25.
