OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Earlier this week, Johnson County Community College Maddox Fergus earned her second Kansas Jayhawk Conference D-II Goalkeeper of the Week award just three weeks into the 2024 season, now she can add National Junior College Athletic Association D-II Goalkeeper of the Week to her resume'.

The sophomore out of Shawnee Mission West was chosen for the weekly honor after stopping all six shots she faced in a 3-0 shutout over No. 8 Iowa Central in her only action last week.

Fergus is just the third goalkeeper in JCCC history to be named Goalkeeper of the Week by the NJCAA. She joins Elizabeth Casey, who was honored during the 2005 season, and Emma Crenshaw, who was selected twice during the 2011 campaign.

Since that match, Fergus has added another shutout holding Neosho County scoreless in a 2-0 win at Chanute on Wednesday. She now has three shutouts on the season and 10 for her career, moving her into a tie for the eighth spot on JCCC's career shutout list.

Fergus currently leads the conference in shutouts, ranks second in wins (3), fifth in saves (20) and third in goals against average (0.89).  Nationally she is tied for fourth in shutouts.
